After much speculation, the quadrilogy between Brandon Moreno and Deiveson Figueiredo was not made official, at least for a while. Scheduled to fight for the interim flyweight belt (up to 56,7kg), the Mexican insinuated that the Brazilian's injury was not true and blamed the champion's team for not holding the fight. The statement was made in an interview with 'MMA Junkie'.

“Look, anyone can draw their own conclusions, but what I think is that he's been making excuses from the beginning. He even tried to say I'm racist and that kind of thing. I feel like after that didn't work out for him, he had no choice but to say he's injured and can't fight,” Moreno said.

The former champion declared that he doesn't think the Brazilian is 'a bad person', but blamed the Tupiniquim athlete's team for the actions he took in his career.

“Look, from all the people I've talked to about this around the situation and everyone I've discussed this with, we've come to the conclusion that he's not a bad person. I just think he's not that smart, let's just say. I think he surrounds himself with people who think they're smart, but at the end of the day, no matter how good a person you are, you're the one who makes your decisions, you know what I mean?" Brandon explained.

The last three duels of Brandon's career were against Deiveson, with a record of one victory for each side and a draw in the trilogy that made history in the division. With the champion injured, Moreno will face the New Zealander Kai Kara France, UFC 277, scheduled for July 30th. The Mexican has a record in MMA of 19 victories, six setbacks and two draws.
