Jon Jones on fighting Gustafsson: 'It was exactly what I needed'

The light heavyweight champion said he learned a lot from the fight and promised to come back even better

For many, the good presentation of Alexander Gustafson before Jon Jones at UFC 165 it was a favor done by the Swede to his rivals in the light heavyweight category, by exposing some gaps in the champion's game. However, for others, including Jones himself, the fight may have served as a warning and encouragement for the North American to evolve even further.

'This fight (against Gustafsson) was exactly what I needed,” Jones wrote on his official profile on Twitter. "Thank you all for the support. I felt a little off my game in the fight, but I learned a lot about myself and I promise to come back better”, added “Bones”, as he is known.

Last Saturday (21), Jon Jones defeated Alexander Gustasfsson by unanimous decision after a five-round battle. The fight excited fans, specialized media and the Ultimate organization itself, which is already talking about a possible rematch for the light heavyweight belt – even though it is rare for this to happen when the title challenger is defeated.

    The result does not faithfully portray the struggle, “unanimity”

    The challenger undeniably went beyond what any mortal would imagine.

    I understand that a small difference in points would be fair; If not, let's face it, there would have been a classic draw...

    Boxing was the Swede's greatest weapon. No fighting on the ground!!!
    With greater physical preparation I think the result would have been different!!
