Wilson Reis and Michel Trator win on UFC 165 preliminary card

With three Brazilian representatives opening the show, only Renee Forte left the octagon with defeat

All the attention at UFC 165, an event that takes place this Saturday (21), in Toronto, is focused on the North American's title defenses Jon Jones and Brazilian Renan Barao. However, before the Brazilian athlete put the interim bantamweight title on the line, Brazil started the show on a positive note. With three representatives on the preliminary card, the country opened the fight program with two wins and one loss. The triumphs were Wilson reis and Michel Trator.

Wilson reis debut on the right foot

Called up with less than three weeks for the duel, Wilson reis He was not intimidated by the short preparation time and debuted in the Octagon with triumph. The fight against Ivan Menjivar started out balanced, with the fight very busy in terms of striking. The Salvadoran-born Canadian landed good blows, mixing low kicks and boxing combinations. In turn, the Brazilian responded by counterattacking with good sequences of punches.

In the second round, Wilson started to take control of the fight. After finding the distance, the Brazilian took down Menjivar and kept his opponent down, landing a few punches on his rival. With good physical condition, Reis repeated the tactic from the previous half, took down the home athlete, arrived in mount and controlled the fight until the bell sounded.

Renee loses by knockout

Brazilian Renee Forte entered the octagon this Saturday, considered a huge underdog in the fight against John makdessi. And despite a good start, the athlete from Ceará was no match for his rival.

After coming in with a sequence of blows, Forte was surprised with a straight right that landed on the chin. On the ground, the Brazilian still received several punches until he was knocked out two minutes into the fight.

It was tough, but Michel Trator got his first UFC victory. Before  Jesse Ronson, the Brazilian started at an intense pace, closing the distance and taking down his rival. On top, the man from Pará worked with punches and attempted the submission for several moments, however, they were always well defended by Ronson.

In the second round, Michel maintained his strategy and had the advantage. However, the Brazilian felt the start hot and began to show fatigue and Ronson grew in the duel.

In the third half, the Canadian managed to keep the fight standing, landed good blows on the Brazilian and even managed a plastic takedown in the final moments. However, the good finish was not enough for the Canadian.

After 15 minutes, Michel Trator won the judges' split decision (29×28, 28×29, 29×28)
