“I think, in the heat of the moment and a little heated, there was no interest for me at that moment. There was no real interest. But obviously with him being a champion, I have to give him the respect he deserves and honor him with a rematch. Now, it's my turn. I was the champion. I feel like I should feel honored with another fight and that's what I'm waiting for,” said McKee, in an interview with 'MMA Junkie'.

McKee also emphasized that, in the history of the rivalry, each athlete won a duel. He also aims to be a double champion and, to that end, he wants to beat Pitbull again at featherweight.

“That’s the next step: just get back there, set a date and go get the title back. I can't leave the featherweight division with a defeat, that's for sure. We're at one win each, so we'll see. Let the best win. I want to be double champion. The first step is to get my belt back and then plan the second,” he concluded.

Considered the greatest jewel ever revealed by Bellator, McKee was unsuccessful in his first title defense. In addition to being overcome by Patrício in a balanced five-round confrontation, the American ended up losing his unbeaten record in his career.

Considered by many to be the biggest name in the history of the organization, Patrício lived up to his reputation as the 'king of rematches'. The Brazilian has never been surpassed in a second meeting with opponents. With the triumph in Bellator 277, the Brazilian reached his 33rd victory as a professional in MMA.
