Charles do Bronx ignores lost belt and brilliantly submits Justin Gaethje at UFC 274

Star of UFC 274, held this Saturday (7), in Phoenix (USA), Charles of the Bronx ignored the loss of the belt due to a failure to cut weight on the eve of the fight, and overcame Justin gaethje brilliantly. After going through a difficult time at the beginning of the confrontation, the athlete showed his recovery again and used jiu-jitsu to find victory. The athlete's triumph came via rear naked choke in the first round (click here to see the finish).

As a result, Charles did not have his belt buckled by Dana White. According to the rule, the athlete is qualified to fight for the vacant lightweight belt next.

Do Bronx's victory expanded the Brazilian's great moment in the organization. Now, the athlete has 11 positive results in a row.

After a good start to the fight, when he took down the São Paulo native twice, Gaethje succumbed to the Brazilian's excellent jiu-jitsu. The stumble caused the American to fail in his second attempt to take over the absolute lightweight throne.

In an interview still in the octagon, Do Bronx was not intimidated in proposing his challenge. In a loud and clear tone, the São Paulo native once again challenged Conor McGregor, who is recovering from a serious injury suffered in July 2021.

The fight

The confrontation began with Gaethje taking the initiative with a cross. Do Bronx accepted the open exchange and responded to his opponent's attacks. Still in the first minute, an uppercut from the North American knocked the São Paulo native down. Charles got up quickly, but fell again with another attack from his opponent. Justin avoided going to the ground with the Tupiniquim and the fight was once again fought on the feet. The Brazilian tried to recover and attacked his opponent with combinations of punches. Halfway through the fight, Do Bronx seemed to have recovered from his initial shock and was walking towards his rival. With just over two minutes remaining until the end of the stage, Charles connected with a cross, which took his rival to the ground. Charles got to his back and locked in a rear naked choke. With no way to recover, it was up to Gaethje to withdraw.
