The rivalry continues. After being surprised by the news that Robert whittaker would have gotten hurt and left the UFC 275, Marvin vettori saw Paulo borrachinha to make himself available to replace the Australian in a possible rematch that would take place in June.

The challenge, however, was not well received by Vettori. In a video published on the official 'Instagram', the Italian adopted an aggressive stance and chose to refuse the possibility of a new meeting with Borrachinha. He highlighted that the fight makes no sense because the Brazilian beat him in his last appearance and ended by telling his rival to look for someone else.
“I f***ed you and it’s over, friend. He finished. Get someone else in the middle. Find your place. You're after me and it doesn't make any sense for me to fight this son of a bitch. Zero meaning to me. Zero. Plus, I beat him with over 20kg. Fuck this guy. I have your money and victory, stay away from me. It’s over,” said Vettori.
Marvin and Paulo measured forces in the UFC Las Vegas 41, in the main event that took place on October 23, 2021. The Brazilian, at the time, announced the week of the fight that he would not make the middleweight weight (up to 83,9kg.) and Vettori chose to accept that the duel would take place in the division up to 93kg. After five rounds, the Italian was declared the winner with a unanimous decision by the judges.
Number two in the rankings, Vettori has only one defeat in his last seven fights. The only negative result occurred in the category belt dispute, in June 2021, against the champion Israel adesanya in the unanimous decision of the judges. The fighter has a record of 18 wins, four setbacks and one draw in professional MMA.
