“Conor deals the cards. He talks to those who want to fight and it happens. He's the star of the event, (but) the guy hasn't won a fight in a while. They have to give him an opponent who has a chance of winning. (…) we are the only linear champions of the category among the people who are active today. (Dustin) Poirier was interim champion. Khabib, who was the lineal champion, left. From the Bronx he won a valid belt. The only ones who really beat champions were Conor and me,” said Dos Anjos.

Former lightweight champion (up to 77kg), Rafael has already outlined future plans for his career. The Brazilian revealed that he wants to compete against big names in the organization and planned a return for July, with the desire to have three fights in 2022.

“I see myself fighting in July. It's the month I want to fight. I came to Brazil to get active. I want to have three fights this year and, for July, I have several options. I want fights that motivate me to go to the gym and train. Regardless of whether the guy is in the ranking – above me or not. A name that gives me motivation to train. For example: (Jorge) Masvidal, Colby covington and Conor (McGregor)”, he concluded.
