The UFC's decision to promote the first quadrilogy in the history of the division between Deiveson Figueiredo e Brandon Moreno, for the flyweight title (up to 56,7 kg), divided opinions. Among those who disagree with the quadrilogy is the biggest name in the history of the division: Demetrious Johnson.

Currently in ONE Championship, the record holder for consecutive title defenses in Ultimate believes that Deiveson Figueiredo should defend the flyweight belt against a new opponent.

“Why have a fourth fight? Why? Face Pantoja. Let Pantoja fight. Let Kai Kara France to fight. Face someone totally different. Go there, get your magic back if you think you need it. Put someone new in front of you”, said DJ during his participation in “MMA Hour”.

After more than seven years fighting for the UFC, most of them as champion, Demetrious Johnson understands the organization's modus operandis. Despite admitting the weight of the financial issue of the quadrilogy for Ultimate, the former champion believes that it is more advantageous for Deiveson to face someone different.

PUBLICITY:

“It makes a lot of sense for the UFC and maybe for the athletes too. I know how UFC contracts are structured, so if Figueiredo faces Brandon Moreno ou Kai Kara France, I'm sure he will be paid the same way. These guys don't get pay-per-view points. They never gave flyweights pay-per-view points. Don't act like you're going to get paid for 800 pay-per-view sales. It’s better to face Kara France or Pantoja”, he concluded.
