Black belt Ryan Gracie, aged 33, was found dead in a prison cell at the 91st Police District (Ceagesp), in São Paulo. The fighter was arrested on Friday afternoon accused of robbery and attempted robbery.
Gracie was found dead sitting in one of the corners of the cell at around 7:30 am, the guards' shift change time, according to the SSP (Secretariat of Public Security). He was alone in the cell. According to his lawyer, Rodrigo Souto, the causes of death have not yet been disclosed by the police.
The fighter arrived at 3am this Saturday at the 91st DP, where the temporary prison is located for those detained at night, weekends and holidays. Gracie would be sent to a CDP (Provisional Detention Center) on Monday (17).
