Daniel Cormier believes in Colby Covington's 'surprise' with Jorge Masvidal's aggression

The former UFC champion analyzed 'Chaos'' stance in the face of the aggression suffered by his rival and stated that he 'crossed the line' of provocations

A fight between Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington in a restaurant in Miami (USA), continues to resonate in the world of mixed martial arts. The former Ultimate champion Daniel Cormier commented on the confusion between the two athletes and believes that 'Chaos' was surprised by his former friend's attitude.

“We saw that with Khabib (Nurmagomedov) and (Conor) McGregor. Khabib wasn't about to let it go. It was too far for him to say at the end of the fight that everything was fine. It went too far and I feel like that's what happened. (Colby) Covington is not a street guy. He's a guy who likes to talk and fight. The character may have crossed a line and now put him in a situation he wasn't really prepared for. That's why he didn't have anyone in the room with him to make sure he didn't cross the line,” Cormier said.

Former training partners and best friends from the American Top Team days, the two athletes strained their relationships and started to hate each other ever since. In the long-awaited settlement of accounts, which took place in UFC 272, Colby and Masvidal had a warm fight, which ended with a quiet victory for 'Caos' in a unanimous decision by the judges.
