Featherweight champion (up to 65,7kg.), Alexander Volkanovsky left the rivalry aside and showed regret by accusing Max Holloway of faking an injury to avoid facing him. In a candid interview with 'Submission Radio', the Australian reveals that he was confused when he received the news of the Hawaiian's departure from the card, but apologizes for his comments at the time.

“It was frustrating, because at the time I really wanted to face him. And when I heard that he had been injured, everything became very confusing and frustrating. You saw my frustration. I wanted to write something on my 'Twitter' and interact with Max (Holloway) and his fans, but it was really silly of me, to be honest,” said Volkanovski.
Looking for his third title defense, Alexander opted to remain on the card and took on a new challenge. Now, the Australian measures forces against Chan sung jung, known as 'Korean zombie', in combat that takes place in the UFC 273, on April 9.
Featherweight champion since 2019, Volkanovski has already faced Holloway on two occasions, 2019 and 2020, and won both by judge's decision. He currently has a record of 23 triumphs and only one setback in professional MMA.
