Recently put up for sale by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, Chelsea, one of the main English clubs and current champions of Europe and the world, may have a very unusual new owner: Conor McGregor. Former UFC featherweight (up to 65,7 kg) and lightweight (up to 70,3 kg) champion, the Irishman recently expressed interest in purchasing the London club.

Last Wednesday (2), through his official Twitter account, Conor McGregor “tagged” Chelsea’s official profile in a post and expressed his desire to “explore purchasing” the Blues.
“I want to explore this, @ChelseaFC”, wrote the Irishman accompanied by a screenshot of a Whatsapp conversation with someone unidentified with the following phrases: “Chelsea for sale for 3 billion”, “let's buy”.

The speculated value to buy Chelsea is around 3 billion pounds (approximately R$20,6 billion).
Avowed Manchester United fan, Conor McGregor is, without a doubt, the most successful name in media and financial terms in the history of MMA. The Irishman holds the organization's main commercial records and is also the owner of the highest salary in mixed martial arts, appearing several times in the top 10 of the traditional “Forbes” list of the highest paid athletes in the world. In 2021, Conor topped the list, leaving behind names like Neymar, Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lebron James.
Roman Abramovic bought Chelsea in 2003, invested more than £1,5 billion since then and transformed the club into a major power in world football. Closely linked to President Vladimir Putin, the Russian oligarch chose to sell the “Blues” after finding himself under a lot of pressure since his country's invasion of Ukraine.
