After the defeat of Lyoto Machida for Phil Davis in the co-main fight of UFC Rio 4, José Aldo He entered the octagon to face Jung Chang-Sung in a climate of strong apprehension. Even so, Manauara won the victory over “Korean zombie” Jung Chang-Sung by technical knockout in the fourth round and retained the UFC featherweight belt.
In the first round, Aldo bet on his now famous sequences ending with a low kick. Investing only in the stand-up game, the champion also managed to connect some jabs on the South Korean's face. In the final minute, the Brazilian took a good takedown on Chang-Sung and then a high kick.
In the second round, the man from Manaus continued to take advantage and was responsible for the main blows in the opening minutes. The third round started with less action than the previous ones. However, a flying knee attempt by the South Korean ended up taking the fight to the ground, after Aldo absorbed the blow well and reversed it into another takedown. Controlling Chang-Sung on the fence, the Brazilian dominated the round, even without delivering hard blows. When they got back to their feet, the man from Manaus tried to control his opponent on the canvas again, but almost suffered a chokehold.
In the fourth half, after a sequence of searing high kicks from the Brazilian, Jung Chang-Sung ended up injuring his shoulder in a counter punch. Realizing that the opponent had accused the blow, José Aldo went up and took the Korean zombie to the ground, ending the fight in the ground and pound.
Adding the UFC and WEC, José Aldo He now has seven successful belt defenses. Manauara has a record of 23 wins and just one defeat. “Scarface”, as he is known, is currently fourth in the Ultimate weight-for-pound rankings, behind only Anderson Silva (3º), Georges St Pierre (2th) and Jon Jones (1º).
