During the week of the event, the UFC 272 had an important loss in the second most important fight of the night. The fighter Raphael Fiziev, which would face Rafael dos Anjos, tested positive for COVID-19 and is out of action. The information was released by journalist Ariel Helwani and confirmed by the athlete on social media.

“I am devastated to announce that I am out of the fight. I had a great training period and was ready to do the show, I flew to Vegas from Thailand only to get sick with COVID for 3 days and I'm in the hotel bed with a fever, bone pain and cough,” wrote Fiziev in his 'Twitter' official.
Fiziev would have the biggest fight of his career to date. Owner of a record of 11 wins and one loss, the Kyrgyz was defeated on his Ultimate debut in 2019. However, since then, he has gone on a streak of five straight victories – including a knockout via round kick over Brad Riddell, which took place in December.
Healthy and ready to take action, Dos Anjos is hoping to stay on the card against a short-notice replacement. The Brazilian has not played since November 2020, when he won Paul felder in the judges' split decision. Former champion of the category, he has a record of 30 triumphs and 13 setbacks and has already beaten names like Nate diaz, Anthony Pettis, Donald Cerrone, Robbie Lawler e Kevin Lee.
