Glover Teixeira confirms postponement of title fight against Jiri Prochazka

Brazilian reveals that fight, initially scheduled for May 7, was postponed until June

The fight between Glover Teixeira e Jiri Prochazka changed date. After being marked for the UFC 274 on May 7th, in the United States, the light heavyweight title fight (up to 93kg) was rescheduled for June. The information was confirmed by the Brazilian in an interview with ‘Combate’ during ufc vegas 49 this Saturday (26).

“There’s no set date, but let’s go. It won't be in Brazil, on May 7th, so it's okay. (…) I do not know the reason). It is complicated. I don't know why they took it (the fight) out of Brazil, but I'm just here waiting for a call and prepared. It doesn’t matter where,” Glover said.

After winning the light heavyweight belt in UFC 267, in October, at the age of 42, Glover Teixeira returns to the octagon for his first defense. The Brazilian has a professional record of 33 wins and seven losses. The Minas Gerais native comes from a series of six consecutive victories, the last being in winning the title, against Jan Blachowicz

In turn, Prochazka arrives for the most important fight of his career with 12 victories in a row, two of which in the Ultimate. The Czech, who is a former RIZIN champion, has a record of 28 wins and three losses. In his last defeat, he defeated Dominick reyes, in May 2021.
