Khabib pays respect to Bobby Green before fight between veteran and Islam Makhachev: 'He's a tough fighter'

Even with the opponent of Islam makhachev being cast at the last minute for the UFC Las Vegas 49, which takes place this Saturday (26), Khabib Nurmagomedov calls for caution. Mentor and one of the Russian's main coaches, the former Ultimate champion asked for respect from Bobby Green and clarified that his student will not face 'just anyone'. The team's focus is to get the main star to qualify for a fight for the lightweight belt (up to 70,3kg).

“He (Green) will not be underestimated by our side. Islam and I had long conversations about him, we watched his fights. Bobby Green will not be underestimated, because he is a very interesting fighter, psychologically strong and he is a tough fighter”, guaranteed Nurmagomedov, in an interview with 'Young 'n' Faded MMA Society'.

In the same chat, Khabib also warned that the American's experience and takedown defenses could make a difference. The athlete also comes from a complete preparation period, as he last performed on February 12, when he overcame Nasrat Haqparast.

This weekend, Bobby will try to shock the world by sharing the octagon against Makhachev. The athlete took on the challenge after an injury to his Beneil Dariush, number three in the ranking, who would previously face the Russian.

If he 'breaks the bank', Green could make an important leap in the division and reach the top 5. Islam, in turn, could 'stamp his passport' to face the winner of the clash between the champion Charles of the Bronx e Justin gaethje, which measure forces in the UFC 274.
