Istela Nunes faces Sam Hughes in April and seeks her first UFC victory

Captained by the duel between welterweights (up to 77 kg) Vicente Lique and Belal Muhammad |, the UFC card scheduled for April 16th has another Brazilian presence confirmed. For the strawweight division (up to 52,1 kg), istela nunes face Sam Hughes. The information was initially confirmed by the “Iron Lady” website.

Former ONE Championship belt challenger, istela nunes debuted in the Octagon at UFC Las Vegas 40, in October last year, when she was submitted by compatriot Ariane Carnelossi in the third round. The debut in Ultimate also marked the return of the Paraná Vale-Tudo athlete to competitions after serving a two-year suspension for doping. Against Sam Hughes, the Brazilian is looking for the seventh victory in her career and the first in the organization.

On the other side, Sam Hughes lives a more delicate situation in Ultimate. Former challenger for the LFA belt, the American was hired by the UFC in 2020, but lost the three fights she had in the organization, the last of which against the Brazilian Luana Dread, in November last year.

Still without a confirmed location, the card for April 16th is full of Brazilians. In addition to those already mentioned istela nunes e Vincent Luque, the event has Mayra Sheetara, Caio Borralho, Elizeu Capoeira e André Sergipano.
