Coach says Cain Velasquez would be successful in his eventual return to MMA

Founder of the 'American Kickboxing Academy' (ATT), Javier Mendez believes that Mexicans could still achieve good things in the sport, if they chose to return to competition

Javier Méndez believes that Cain Velazquez he could be successful in his career in mixed martial arts, if he chose to return to competition. The ‘technician’American kickboxing Academy’ (ATT), the Mexican’s ‘home’ for years, believes that there is a scenario for a possible return of the former heavyweight champion (up to 120,2kg.) for financial reasons.

“He would be successful if he wanted to come back. But I don't know if you have that desire anymore. I don't talk to him about these things, but anything is possible. If someone says, 'Hey, here's $2 million, let's fight. All of a sudden he can say, 'Give me $4 million and I'll do it,'" Mendez said in an interview with 'MMA Junkie'.

Cain leaves mixed martial arts being considered one of the best heavyweights in the company's history. With just over 10 years in MMA, Cain had 17 fights, recording 14 wins and three losses, but his trajectory was affected by the number of injuries he suffered.

In his last performance, Velasquez ended up succumbing to the strength and talent of the giant Francis Ngannou. On that occasion, the fighter was knocked out just 26 seconds into the fight, ending his career in mixed martial arts. He also performed at events telecatch In Mexico.
