After sixth consecutive victory, Sean Strickland asks to be next in the middleweight belt dispute

In an interview after UFC Las Vegas 47, 'Tarzan' said he deserves to be the next challenger in the category and asked for 'new blood' in the division

With six consecutive victories since moving to the middleweight division (up to 83,9kg), Sean Strickland asked to be next in the fight for the category belt. In a press conference after the UFC Las Vegas 47, which took place this Saturday (05), the North American said that Israel adesanya he is close to clearing the category and believes he deserves to be the next challenger.

“At the end of the day, you feel sorry for Izzy (Israel adesanya) win and unless Cannonier wins, he will have swept the division. Come on, let's get some new blood in, no one wants to see more repeats. Let’s let a white trash son of a bitch have a chance,” Strickland said.

In possession of Israel adesanya, the middleweight belt will be put on the line in UFC 271, which takes place next Saturday (12). The Nigerian will face, for the second time, the New Zealander Robert whittaker, an athlete who was the leader of the division when 'Stylebender' took over the reigns.

Number seven in the rankings, Strickland has won six straight wins and hasn't known defeat since May 2018, when he was knocked out by Elizeu Capoeira. The American has an MMA record of 25 triumphs and three setbacks.
