During his participation in “MMA Hour”, a podcast on the North American website “MMA Fighting”, Benson Henderson analyzed his career in Bellator so far and admitted that he did not deliver what was expected of him.
“I actually feel bad for Bellator. I feel like I owed money on my contract with Bellator. They paid me a lot of money, so I think I should have done a better job. I didn't do what they expected. I was a big signing and I know the weight of that. When you're a signing at that level, you have to win the Super Bowl for your team and I didn't do that. I didn't have great performances like I had in the WEC and UFC. That's why Bellator paid, for the performance. They wanted performances, big moments, that kind of stuff and I didn't give it to them,” Bendo admitted.
After suffering three consecutive defeats, Benson Henderson, who hadn't won a fight in over two years, overcame Islam Mamedov in the co-main fight of Bellator 273. Excited by the result, the former UFC champion assured that he intends to renew his relationship with Bellator and win the organization's belt.
“I definitely want to renew with Bellator. I want the Bellator belt around my waist. I need that title”, assured the fighter.
