Calvin Kattar makes himself available to be the backup for 'Volkanovski x Korean Zombie'

Number five in the featherweight division, the North American is ready to fight for the featherweight belt in March, in case there are any unforeseen events with the fighters scheduled.

Excited after important victory over prospect Giga Chikadze, Calvin kattar said he was prepared for a possible fight for the featherweight belt (up to 65,7kg). In a statement given to the podcast Michael Bisping, the North American volunteered to be a 'reserve fighter' for the clash between the champion Alexander Volkanovsky e Korean zombie, scheduled for the month of March.

“In my head, I’m planning on being the replacement. It's not happening yet, but they said they'll let me know if there's a replacement for 'Volkanovski x Zumbi', so I'm ready for that,” Kattar said.

The featherweight stated that he is just waiting for an official confirmation from Ultimate and said that he does not intend to relax with his training.

“I'm waiting for an 'OK' from the UFC. If that is the case, they will let me know in a while. If something happens, they'll want me, so stay focused in the gym and stay ready. It’s just another reason to prepare to compete”, concluded the North American.

Current number five in the featherweight rankings, Calvin kattar won three of his last four engagements with the Ultimate gloves. Despite the beating suffered by Max Holloway, the North American defeated Jeremy Stephens, Dan Ige e Giga Chikadze. The fighter has a record of 23 triumphs and five setbacks in professional MMA.
