Robert Whittaker recognizes that he will not be a favorite in the duel with Israel Adesanya

With just under a month to go until the duel against Israel adesanya, Robert whittaker He was sincere in recognizing his opponent's favoritism. In a statement given to 'Unibet Australia', the former middleweight champion (up to 83,9kg) said that he likes to be seen as an underdog and stated that he usually performs well in this type of scenario.

“I’m the underdog coming into this rematch against (Israel) Adesanya. It makes sense. He already beat me once, he is the current champion. Being the underdog definitely takes some of the pressure off me,” Whittaker said.

Robert stated that he is used to dealing with the role of 'zebra' in confrontations and I affirm that he likes to climb into the Octagon and contradict the statistics.

“No one expects me to win. Nobody expects me to go there and dethrone him after he's already beaten me. Throughout my entire career, I've loved being the underdog. I love getting in there and defying the odds. I like going out there and proving people wrong. This gives me a little extra advantage”, concluded the former champion.
