And the rivalry eased. Already retired, Daniel Cormier does not fail to comment on the possible debut of Jon Jones in the heavyweight division (up to 120,2kg.) and spoke about the recent comments from 'Bones', which criticized the level of performance between Francis Ngannou e Cyryl Gane No. UFC 270 last Saturday (22).

In an interview with 'ESPN' North American, DC highlighted that Jones needs to be careful with his words and concentration so that he does not exceed his confidence and expectation of success in the category led by Ngannou.

PUBLICITY:

“I thought to myself that maybe Jones can beat (Ngannou) and I saw him say that the fight (between Francis and Ciryl) gives confidence, but it's better to slow down, because what we saw from Ngannou on Saturday was not what we are used to. He was a guy who was able to adjust quickly – something he hadn’t done before – and still keep the belt,” Cormier said.

Paying attention to the heavyweight division even though he has already 'hung up his gloves', Daniel still spoke about the future of the former executioner. He even believes that Jones can beat Ngannou and Gane, in possible disputes in the future.

PUBLICITY:

“I'm less sure that both of them would win Jon Jones. Ultimately, Jones is a top-notch competitor, and when you give a competitor the opportunity to prove himself, he feels more invincible than he has ever felt in his life. And I'm not one to praise him easily. He is a good fighter and is working with Henry Cejudo. For a possible fight, Jones will have a masterful game plan. he will have everything to give himself the best opportunity to win a fight against the champion,” he concluded.

Rivalry between Jones and Cormier

Jones and Daniel faced each other twice in the light heavyweight division, leading to one of the biggest rivalries in recent MMA history. The first time they exchanged forces, in 2015, DC ended up defeated in a unanimous decision by the judges.

The two should have faced each other in a rematch in 2016, but Jon ended up caught in an anti-doping test and gave way to Anderson Silva, with two days left until UFC 200.

In 2017, finally, the fighters returned to share the combat arena. With the rivalry even more fierce, 'Bones' ended up superior to his rival and defeated DC by knockout, and, on that occasion, regained the belt, which he had lost after being stripped due to legal problems. The victory, however, was taken away from Jones after the athlete was caught taking a doping test.
