With a streak of 15 fights without losing and another five title defenses, Kamaru Usman He established himself as one of the best fighters in the history of the welterweight division (up to 77kg). And, to leave an even greater legacy in mixed martial arts, the Nigerian reveals that he considered moving up two categories to face the former light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg.), Jan Blachowicz.

“I was going to skip Israel (Adesanya) and go fight Jan (Blachowicz) at light heavyweight. I'm the best in the world and I want to prove it no matter the weight. I thought he would be a really good fight for me. I think I could beat him”, said Kamaru in an interview with the magazine 'GQ'.
However, the fight was never negotiated to take place in the past. It is also worth remembering that Blachowicz lost his world title to the Brazilian Glover Teixeira, in October last year, ruling out any chance of a possible challenge getting off the ground.
A professional since 2012, Kamaru has a record of 20 wins and just one setback in MMA. In his career, the Nigerian has already beaten big names in the organization, such as Leon edwards, Gilbert Durinho, Colby covington e Jorge masvidal.
