After losing the first two rounds, Francis Ngannou turned things around and, with an adapted grappling style, recovered to win Cyryl Gane in the unanimous decision of the judges, in the main fight of the UFC 270 last Saturday (22). And the performance of the heavyweight champion (up to 120,2 kg.) also earned praise from Kamaru Usman, who was in his corner during the fight.

Behind the scenes of the event, Usman praised the way in which the Cameroonian adapted to adversity to avoid the title. He even stated that Francis had the option to leave the duel after a knee injury, but decided to prove himself in the face of difficulties.
“It’s incredible to be able to witness another victory for Francis. It was (a) difficult fight, because he had to deal with many different situations – which could have made the fight difficult. So for him to persevere, going into a tough fight like this, is no joke. Gane is a complete fighter and Francis proved why he is world heavyweight champion. I'm very proud. This belt is in Africa,” said Kamaru.
In an intelligent performance, Francis also showed great improvement in his grappling game. The champion now has his sixth consecutive victory and a record of 17 triumphs and three setbacks.
