In historic flyweight 'war', Deiveson beats Moreno on points and regains belt at UFC 270

The Brazilian once again has a great battle with the Mexican and, in the unanimous decision of the judges, he regains the throne of the division in the epic trilogy

Made history. After losing the belt in a hard way in June 2021, Deiveson Figueiredo regained the flyweight belt (up to 56,7kg) in a true battle in UFC 270. In an epic trilogy against Brandon Moreno, the Brazilian showed evolution and presented a great challenge in the Mexican's career. After 25 minutes of intense fighting, the 'God of War' was declared the winner in a unanimous decision by the judges.

The positive result places Figueiredo in the select group of former champions who managed to regain their old titles. In addition to the victory, the man from Pará achieved his first victory over the Mexican, since, in the first meeting, the combatants had drawn and, in the immediate rematch, the Latino triumphed.

With the triumph, Deiveson assumes the position of absolute leader and recovers from the second setback suffered as a professional in MMA. Now, the man from Pará has 21 victories in 24 challenges in the sport.

Beaten in the co-main fight, Moreno sold his defeat in the event dearly. Dangerous and aggressive in his counterattacks, the athlete scared the man from Pará for a few moments during the confrontation.

After the victory was announced, Deiveson could not contain his emotion. Followed by Henry Cejudo, who played an important role in the Brazilian's preparation, the fighter cried profusely in the Octagon.

The fight

The confrontation began with the athletes exchanging low kicks in the center of the octagon. On the second attempt, Deiveson launched a round shot, which went empty. Immediately, Moreno went into the clinch and started to press the Brazilian against the bars. The Brazilian managed to reverse the position, but the confrontation continued without much action. Halfway through the round, the fighters moved away and, subsequently, Figueiredo knocked the Mexican off balance with a low kick. The champion responded with a straight shot, which landed squarely in the face of the 'God of War'. The man from Pará absorbed the attack well and took down his rival again with a shot at the base. Brandon provoked and tried to destabilize the challenger. Near the final minute, Moreno threw a cross, but Deiveson dodged it and managed to take down his opponent. The champion managed to free himself and started throwing combinations of straight shots and low kicks. Almost at the end of the stage, the Brazilian knocked his opponent off balance with a cross, but the champion accused the attack.

Moreno defended himself well and was waiting for the best moment to launch his strikes. After a dodge, Deiveson received a cross. The Brazilian, however, accepted the frank exchange and the confrontation became tense. After almost two minutes, the man from Pará launched a round kick, but Brandon took advantage and landed a beautiful takedown on the challenger. The 'God of War' got up quickly and the duel was fought again in the center of the octagon. With two minutes left to finish the stage, Moreno connected with a straight shot, followed by a hook to the liver. Figueiredo continued walking forward and accepted the frank confrontation. In the final minute, the fighters went all or nothing. Looking for the knockout, the protagonists attacked with everything and got the audience on their feet. Almost at the end, the Brazilian attempted a takedown, but there was no more time.

The third round began with Deiveson launching the first attack, with a low kick. Afterwards, the Brazilian launched a left cross, which was responded in kind by the champion. Moreno launched a cross again, but ended up caught by the Brazilian, who took him down. Brandon got up and managed to free himself from the challenger. After just over a minute, Figueiredo knocked his opponent down with a cross. Moreno got up and returned the attack, which also shook the Pará native. The duel became tense again, with the athletes looking for a knockout. With almost two minutes remaining, the Brazilian once again unbalanced the champion with a low kick. Afterwards, it was Moreno who rocked his opponent, with a well-aimed cross. The fighters continued to put on a show and tried to end the duel on the fast track. Near the final minute, an uppercut from the champion shook the man from Pará, who started walking backwards. The 'God of War' recovered and surprised his opponent with a straight shot. The fight remained open and the audience was cheering. In the final seconds, a straight shot from the Brazilian knocked the Mexican down, but the champion ended up saved by the bell.

In the fourth round, the Brazilian was again the first to strike, with a low kick. The shots at the base of the Pará native seemed to bother the champion. The athletes once again accepted open exchanges. In the center of the octagon and walking forward, the man from Pará launched another low kick, but Moreno responded with a straight shot. With less than two minutes remaining to the end of the stage, Moreno launched a jab sequence straight into the Brazilian's face. Deiveson soon shortened the game and went into a grappling fight. On his opponent's back, Figueiredo pressed the champion against the bars. Brandon managed to free himself and the duel became frank again. Emotional, the champion delivered a powerful kick to the challenger's waistline. Deiveson defended and looked for the best moment to attack. In the final seconds, the athletes went for the clinch, but the timer ran to zero.

The champion got up quickly and returned the attack, but the Brazilian defended himself well. Towards the end of the fight, the mocas studied each other and waited for the best moment to attack. Almost at the end, the fighters went all or nothing with intense frank exchanges. The duel ended with an impressive fight, with repeated attacks from the stars.
