“Tony is Tony. I respect the guy and I love the way he fights. I would love to share the Octagon with him, but it has to be within a normal timeframe. Everyone knows what a normal time frame is, you need 8 to 10 weeks to train for a fight. I take this sport very seriously, so I'm not going to fight a guy five weeks in advance and just say yes to a fight 8 or 10 weeks after a previous fight,” said Chandler in an interview with 'MMA fighting'.

Chandler spoke about the possibility of redemption in the organization. In three fights, he only won on his debut against Dan Hooker and, since then, has accumulated defeats against Charles of the Bronx – in contention for the vacant belt – and Justin gaethje. Still, he promises that 2022 will be 'a great year' and reiterates his desire to fight against 'The cucuy'.

“Tony is a guy who ticks a lot of boxes, but there are a few different guys I would love to fight. I'm sitting and treating my wounds from the (last) fight. I feel phenomenal and I'm excited about 2022. I think 2022 is going to be a big year for me and the company as a whole. Tony is definitely a guy on that list (of possible opponents) and we'll see. It just has to be within a normal time frame,” he concluded.
