Daniel Cormier praises Henry Cejudo's career and talks about the possible return of 'Triple C' to MMA

DC tried to praise 'Triple C', but is cautious about possible 'skipping the queue' in the featherweight division (up to 65,7kg.)

Considered, by many, as one of the biggest names in the history of combat sports for his gold medal in Wrestling at the Beijing Olympics in 2008, and for having been champion of two categories (flyweight and bantamweight) in the UFC, Henry Cejudo considers coming out of retirement and 'flirted' with fighting against Alexander Volkanovsky in an attempt to hold the belt in the third different category in the organization.

In an interview with 'The Schmo', however, the former champion and current commentator Daniel Cormier tried to praise 'Triple C' for his career as a professional, but agrees with Ultimate's decision to promote 'Korean zombie' as a substitute for Max Holloway – who had to withdraw from the trilogy due to aggravated injury – in the fight for the featherweight title (up to 65,7kg.).

“How can you question a guy who managed to become champion in two different weight categories and showed that he can be victorious whether in the Olympics or in MMA? Still, I think (the next one) should really be Korean zombie and the champion (Alexander Volkanovsky) wants to fight him. Whenever we have a guy trying to change his weight class, there is a big debate about it (jumping the line). The only thing about the Henry Cejudo is that he always wins. It's hard to bet against him. But these situations are difficult, because everyone trying to get a shot at the featherweight belt would be upset,” said Cormier.

Willing to make history and become the organization's first fighter to add three titles to his history, Cejudo hasn't stepped into the octagon since his triumph over Dominick Cruz, in 2020. After beating the bantamweight icon, the athlete, still in the octagon, announced his retirement. In his career in mixed martial arts, there are 16 triumphs and two setbacks.
