After a failed debut season, Anthony Pettis confirms his return to the PFL in 2022

Unable to win in his first year in the new organization, the former UFC champion confirmed his participation in the league's next lightweight tournament.

After failing in his debut season in the PFL, Anthony Pettis revealed this Thursday (06) that he will remain with the organization in 2022. In a statement given to 'MMA Fighting' and confirmed by the fighter himself in his 'Twitter', 'Showtime' guaranteed its participation in the new lightweight division tournament (up to 70,3kg).

After his UFC contract expired at the end of 2020, Anthony became a free agent and signed with the PFL. On its debut in the new home, the following year, 'Showtime' disappointed and did not win any victories. On his debut in April, the former UFC champion was defeated by Clay Collard. Then, in June, another setback, this time for the Brazilian Raush Manfio. The North American has a record of 24 triumphs and two setbacks in professional MMA.

In 2022, Pettis will have another chance to win the lightweight tournament title. The winner of the championship takes home, in addition to the trophy, the grand prize of US$1 million. The new PFL season does not yet have an official date, however, it is expected to start in the first half of this year.
