Gilbert Durinho reveals negotiations for a fight in April and does not rule out facing Khamzat Chimaev

Former title challenger, Brazilian reports difficulty in reaching agreements for a fight in the welterweight division

Time flies and the anxiety of Gilbert Durinho for a new fight in the UFC only increases. Looking for a revenge against Kamaru Usman for the welterweight belt (up to 77kg.), the Brazilian revealed that he is negotiating a fight for April and opened the door to face Khamzat Shimaev.

“I'm negotiating this fight, we're looking at a fight for April. We're just closing in on the opponent, to see who it will be. It could be (Khamzat) Chimaev, who was one of the few guys who accepted and we are in the negotiation there. We will see. This next fight could be against him”, said Durinho in an interview with 'Combat'.

Coming from victory over Stephen Thompson in July 2021, Gilbert also declared that he does not have an 'easy life' when it comes to defining his next opponent in the division. According to the carioca, few fighters agree to face him and, therefore, negotiating a duel becomes more complicated.

“I'm already negotiating for my next fight, but it's difficult. A lot of people didn't accept (fighting me), it's been a more complicated negotiation. I watch the fights and when there's someone in my category fighting, I'm dying for people to call me, but no one challenges me. Let’s see when this next fight will be”, he concluded.
