Even without an official date or confirmation from the UFC, Glover Teixeira He is already working out the territory for his first title defense at light heavyweight (up to 93kg). Knowing the possibility of facing the dangerous Jiri Prochazka, the miner went after Muhammed Lawal, the 'King mo', responsible for the Czech's last defeat in MMA. “I talked to 'Mo', because Prochazka was the substitute in my fight against Jan Blachowicz. He called me, we talked a little, and maybe I'll bring him to my camp (training period). It would be a great possibility. I’m really good friends with Mo,” Glover said.
Thinking about putting together the best team possible for his first title defense, Teixeira showed that he knows well the style of what could be his first opponent after becoming champion. According to the Minas Gerais native, Prochazka's aggressive style could open up opportunities for a stumble.
“Jiri is a very unorthodox striker. He has very fast movements, very good technique, but he fights very open, and I think that's where King mo caught him. He comes like a crazy person, and exposes himself a lot, leaving space for the blows to be connected”, she concluded.
The Czech's tough defeat in MMA happened in 2015, when he was playing for Rizin. At the time, Prochazka ended up being the victim of the aggression of the now veteran. Jiri, however, got his 'revenge', almost four years later, when he knocked Muhammed back.
At the absolute top of the UFC's light heavyweight division, Glover still doesn't have a date to return to the Octagon. After winning the title over Jan Blachowicz, at the end of October, the miner even suggested May. The commitment, however, has not been confirmed by Ultimate.
