With friend Julianna Pena as UFC bantamweight champion, Miesha Tate revealed that she can be seen performing among the flyweights (up to 56,7kg.) soon. Keeping an eye on high-level opponents, Jessica Andrade, 'Bate-Estaca', wasted no time and has already challenged the former champion of the under-61,2kg group.

“I recently read that Miesha is thinking about moving down to flyweight and I would love to be her first opponent in the new division. Maybe she never thought about it, but I joined the UFC because of her, when she filmed TUF (The Ultimate Fighter) with Ronda (Rousey), and accepted a fight against Liz Carmouche, when she was hired as her replacement”, revealed Jéssica , in an interview with 'MMA fighting'.
Former strawweight champion (up to 52,1kg), Bate-Estaca continued to point out reasons why a fight is worth it. Today, playing in two divisions (straws and flies), the Brazilian seems to have no doubts about her next rival.
“We (Tate and Jéssica) went in different directions in the organization, but I followed her all this time in the UFC, even when she competed in bantamweight. She won the bantamweight belt after I went down to strawweight. I believe that a fight between the former strawweight champion and former bantamweight leader would be interesting for the fans,” she concluded.
First placed in the flyweight rankings, Andrade competed for the category belt in April 2021. The Brazilian ended up defeated, but recovered afterwards, in September, when she knocked out Cynthia calvillo.
Bantamweight champion in 2016, Tate returned from retirement in 2021. During the season, the veteran had two clashes, winning on her debut, when she overcame Marion Reneau, and losing in the second match, being overcome by Ketlen Scallop.
