After beating Vitor Belfort's historic UFC mark, Derrick Lewis minimizes record

O UFC Las Vegas 45, held this Saturday (18), placed Derrick Lewis in the isolated leadership as the greatest knockout artist in the history of Ultimate. Executioner of Chris Daukas In the main fight, the North American, however, was not thrilled with his record of 13 knockouts for the company. At the press conference after the show, the ‘giant’ minimized the feat.

“It doesn't mean anything. It means something, I think, because of all these great fighters that came before me. In fact, it doesn't change anything. There are other guys who are active and have done really well too,” Lewis said.

This weekend, Derrick was responsible for starring in the last Ultimate event of the 2021 season. Star of the show, the ‘giant’ did not disappoint.

After a studied start to the fight, the former heavyweight title challenger (up to 120,2kg) found the distance and began a massacre on Daukaus, with a 'machine gun punch'. It took just over three minutes for the fighter to settle the invoice.

In addition to the collision and breaking the record, Lewis defended third place in the category ranking. The combatant also returned to the path of victories, as he had been surpassed by Cyryl Gane, in August, in the dispute for the division’s interim belt.
