After the submission victory of Charles of the Bronx the former champion returned to social media to congratulate the champion on his title defense.
“Congratulations, champion. You deserve this”, wrote Khabib, including an emoji with the Brazilian flag.
Charles of the Bronx became lightweight champion after knocking out Michael chandler in May this year, winning the belt that was left vacant precisely because Khabib Nurmagomedov. The Russian announced his retirement after his third successful title defense, against Justin gaethje, in October of last year.
