The last challenger for the Ultimate welterweight title, Jon Fitch, had his contract renewed with the UFC. The fighter had problems with the organization for not releasing his image rights for the production of a video game.
“I had two fights left on my contract, but they (UFC) always put a clause that, in case of defeat, they could end it. This is standard in any organization, but it's unbelievable that they would make efforts for something like a video game,” Fitch told Hardcore Sports radio.
The American had agreed at the beginning of this week, his return to the octagon against the Japanese Akihiro Gono, at UFC-94, on January 31st, but with the termination, Fitch must be replaced.
