The “machine gun of challenges” of Khamzat Shimaev don't rest. After challenging three retired legends, the Russian-born Swede turned his attention to Colby covington, last challenger for the welterweight belt (up to 77 kg).

On the morning of this Tuesday (30), Khamzat Shimaev used social media, as usual, to fire at Covington.

“Come on f***ing fight me @ColbyCovMMA. I'll rip your heart out. Call the police, I'm coming to get you. You do not represent the United States. I represent the United States. You represent cowardice,” Chimaev wrote in three separate tweets.

the challenge of Khamzat Shimaev comes in response to recent comments from Colby covington. In an interview with the North American website MMAFighting.com, the American stated that he would be willing to face Chimaev and referred to “Lobo” as a “joke” and “participation trophy winner”.

Eleventh placed in the welterweight rankings, Chimaev is seen by many as a strong candidate to dethrone the champion Kamaru Usman. Undefeated in his career, “Lobo” has four fights and four wins in Ultimate and has never reached the third round.

On the other side, Colby covington is ranked first in the division. The North American was the last victim of Kamaru Usman, at the beginning of the month, in his second attempt to win the title. Since 2016, Covington has eight wins and just two losses, both against the champion.
