Glover Teixeira says Alex Poatan is close to challenging Israel Adesanya for the middleweight title

Light heavyweight champion, Brazilian believes that 'pupil' will already be considered in a fight against his former rival in 2022

Kickboxing legend, Alex Poatán He is still at the beginning of his journey in Ultimate, but he is already attracting attention due to his stand-up level. Teammate of the Brazilian, the light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg.) Glover Teixeira believes that the pupil can have a chance at the middleweight title (up to 83,9kg.) against Israel adesanya in just three victories.

"(Alex Poatán) is a bit like me and I couldn't have done better than him at my debut (in UFC 268). He took down, defended takedowns and landed a flying knee – all calm and relaxed. I say that, in three fights, he can (challenge Adesanya). He wants to fight fast and, without injuries, next year everyone will be talking about him and Adesanya,” Glover said in an interview with 'The MMA Hour'.
