“It was never luck. At the beginning of my preparation, I had a serious ankle injury and I thought it would be impossible to make my UFC debut. It was six weeks of agony, but I was sure of what I wanted. It was practically a week of putting your feet on the ground. (…) In the last week before the trip to fight, I was 60% and, on the day of the fight, I was 70%. I had the ankle bracelet on minutes before the fight. I took off my ankle bracelet and said: 'I trained a lot to be here. It wasn't a six-week preparation. It was a 13-year preparation. Never give up on your dreams”, wrote the Brazilian on his Instagram account.
