After the ‘war’ led by Max Holloway e Yair Rodriguez at UFC Vegas 42, the two athletes were expected at the press conference, but they ended up meeting in another unusual place. Due to the scars from the battle, the fighters went straight from the octagon to the hospital and posed for a photo inside the ambulance.

The two athletes did not participate in the press conference after the event. Due to the many injuries suffered by the fighters during the confrontation, both were taken to the hospital for more detailed examinations. Yair needed help to get out of the octagon, as he was having difficulty walking due to swelling in his foot. A fracture is suspected.
After 25 minutes of intense combat, Holloway was declared the winner with a unanimous decision by the judges. The triumph may have stamped the Hawaiian's passport for a new title fight against the featherweight champion (up to 65,7kg) Alexander Volkanovsky. The two athletes faced each other on two occasions, in 2019 and 2020, and the Australian emerged victorious on both occasions.
