“I’m going into the second fight with Colby now and I’m expecting the toughest Covington there’s ever been. Fighting a guy like that, you would expect a lot of mutual respect because we actually shared that octagon for almost 25 minutes. He receives criticism for the way he behaves outside the octagon, but I know he respects me, I know he does. He may not show it, but I know it exists. And I also have a lot of respect for him. I think he's a great competitor, very tough, but the wisdom I've gained in the last year and a half is what surpasses everything he's done,” said Usman.

Champion since March 2019, Usman will be defending his under-77,1kg belt for the fifth time. Since the day he dethroned Tyron woodley, the Nigerian also defeated Colby covington, Jorge masvidal (twice) and Gilbert Durinho. The division leader has a record of 19 triumphs and just one setback in professional MMA.
