The UFC returns to Canada, this Saturday (15), for UFC 161. Initially, the show, which takes place in the city of Winnipeg, would bring Renan Barao defending the interim bantamweight belt and the long-awaited rematch between Mauricio Shogun e Rogério Minotouro, however, due to injury, the fights left the event and the fight program does not feature Brazilians in action.
Despite the absence of athletes from the country, UFC 161 features a great duel in the main attraction. The light heavyweights Dan Henderson e Rashad evans measure strength to climb the division rankings. The fight will be a meeting between number 6 (Rashad) and 3 (Hendo) in the category in the official light heavyweight rankings. Both are coming off defeats and are seeking rehabilitation at the event in Canada.
Without Minotouro Shogun – which did not happen due to Minoto's hernia problem – the UFC called up two heavyweights for the second most important fight of the night. The 'chubby' Roy Nelson, who comes from three consecutive victories, will face Stipe Miocic, who seeks rehabilitation after the defeat to Stefan struve, the only one so far in his career.
UFC 161 will also feature the fourth women's duel in the organization's history. Alexis Davis, a former Strikeforce fighter, will face French-born British citizen Rosi Sexton, who has already fought for Bellator.
