New heavyweight champion (up to 120,2kg) of the PFL, Bruno Cappelozza spoke out for the first time after experiencing the 'happiest and saddest' day of his life, in the words of the athlete. After achieving his greatest achievement in MMA, beating Before Delija, last Wednesday (27), and win the organization's million-dollar tournament, the athlete received the sad news that his father, João Cappelozza, had passed away last Sunday (24). On his social networks, the Brazilian opened up about the moment.

The announcement of João Cappelozza's death was released to the press by the PFL itself. The information arrived a few minutes after the Brazilian's great victory in the decagon. According to the organization, Bruno's family chose to spare the athlete from the news, until that moment, so that it would not shake his focus on the biggest challenge of his career.
Already aware of his father's death, the heavyweight was honored by his opponent, Delija. Behind the scenes of the event, the Croatian made a point of paying his respects to his tormentor.
Bruno's achievement
A pleasant surprise from the PFL for the 2021 season, Bruno had a perfect trajectory until he reached the heavyweight tournament belt. To assume the throne, the Brazilian won four victories, two of them over Ante.
In the grand final, the fighter, once again, shared the decagon with Delija. If in the first meeting the fight ended quickly, with a hard knockout delivered by the São Paulo native in less than a minute, in the second, the story was different.
The clash between Cappelozza and Delija marked one of the best clashes of the season. The athletes exchanged strength for 25 minutes and, after five rounds, the Brazilian was declared the winner in a unanimous decision by the judges.
