Created as a simpler and faster alternative to The Ultimate Fighter to find new talent for the UFC roster, the Dana White Contender Series fell in favor with MMA fans. No fan, however, seems more excited about the series than Dana White himself.

In a press conference given shortly after the fights in the ninth episode of the show's current season, Dana White stated that the Contender Series overtook Pride as the second best MMA event in history, only behind, obviously, the UFC itself.

“I was thinking about it tonight. We have some combat sports events. This (Contender Series) is the second biggest event in combat sports. I mean, you can argue that it's Pride, because Pride had classic, unbelievable fights, but it also had a lot of shitty fights, a lot of bad marriages and stuff like that. Here, in four seasons, from start to finish, all the fights are excellent. It's insane! It is the second best event in all combat sports. It’s unbelievable”, said the Ultimate president.

Exaggeration or not by Dana White, the fact is that the Contender Series has been fulfilling its role of revealing new talents for the UFC. In the last episode, held on Tuesday (26), five athletes won contracts with the organization, including the Brazilian Karina Silva.
