Fedor Emelianenko can say goodbye to mixed martial arts in Bellator 269 this Saturday (23), when he faces Tim Johnson. Former opponents

Legend of the sport, Tim Sylvia had already been UFC champion twice and, in 2008, he had his first experience outside the company of Dana White precisely in front of Fedor Emelianenko. However, in Affliction, the North American ended up being knocked out after 36 seconds. When asked about the matter, the giant made a point of playing with the experience to give his opinion.

“Yes, he is (the best in history). He is absolutely in the position. And he's a great man too, fantastic. I just wished I could test myself against him, but it was over before it even started. It was rubbish,” he joked.

Known for his resistance in his fights, Fábio Maldonado also had a similar experience to Tim Sylvia, as he faced the Russian after leaving Ultimate. However, unlike the North American, the 'Caipira de Aço' fought in a three-round fight and lost by the judges' decision. Now, the Brazilian also surrenders to the Russian's talent and places him 'above everyone' in history.

“In the heavyweight division, I think it’s Fedor. But it's f***, because you can include (Fabrício) Werdum and (Rodrigo) Minotauro too. History is being made too, right? We have Francis Ngannou, which is very hard. Especially in the heavyweight division, there is still a lot being done”, analyzed the Brazilian.

And the new generation?

Promising athletes from the new generation of heavyweights (up to 120,2kg) in Ultimate, Carlos Boi e Alexander Romanov also spoke about the legacy of Fedor Emelianenko. And the decision was unanimous: the Russian is, indeed, the best.

When analyzing Fedor's style, Boi believes that the Russian is not alone in the dispute between the best and puts him in the same position as Velásquez. Still, the Bahian says that Cain's frequent injuries hindered him in the dispute.

“In my opinion, Fedor (Emelianenko) is the best of all time along with Cain Velásquez. And, coincidence or not, I think their style is similar. Lots of explosion with punches in striking, ground and pound violent and excellent falls. Velásquez was hampered by the injuries he had, but he is tied with the Russian”, said the Brazilian.

Without losing, the Moldovan has a record of 15 triumphs in his career and reveals that he is inspired by the 'Last Emperor' to succeed in his career in mixed martial arts.

"Yes yes. For me, it's the best in history. In truth, Fedor Emelianenko He is a great inspiration and a living legend of the heavyweight division in MMA”, highlighted the undefeated Moldovan.

Legacy built!

The opinion about the 'best in the history of sport' is subjective and changeable. Although, Fedor Emelianenko achieved a feat that is the main objective of all high-level athletes: recognition. And, whether you decide to stop or not, you will be forever marked and remembered as the 'Last Emperor' and the king who dethroned many of the biggest names in MMA.
