Heavily criticized for the choice of the next lightweight belt fight (up to 70,3kg), Bellator president Scott Coker decided to defend himself. The agent highlighted that it was a request from the former champion Patrick Pitbull and has already indicated the next challenger in the category. The statement was given after the Bellator 268 last Saturday (16).

“If you look at our rankings, the number 1 challenger was Patricky (Pitbull). So we followed that. When we negotiated with Patrício, it was very clear: 'I'll give up the belt if my brother can fight for the title, because if he wins, I won't want to fight with my brother'. So he said, 'Okay, then I'll let you go. I will focus on the featherweight division (up to 65,7kg),” said Cooker.
Criticized by former lightweight champion Brent Primus, Scott asked the American to calm down and said he would be the next challenger in the category.
“What I will say is that Primus will get his chance after this fight. This fight will happen in a matter of weeks, maybe in January or February. Maybe the winner of Queally and Patricky can fight Primus”, added the agent.
The duel for the vacant lightweight belt between Patricky Pitbull e Peter Queally will be carried out in the Bellator 270, scheduled for November 5th. The show will be held in Dublin (IRL).
