Light heavyweight champion says he was 'starting to warm up' when next rival knocked out Ryan Bader; fight has no confirmed date yet

Finalist of the light heavyweight tournament (up to 93kg), category champion, Vadim nemkov, did not hide his surprise with the performance of Corey anderson in the co-main event of Bellator 268. In the press conference after the event, the Russian, who also won his commitment, stated that he did not imagine that his next opponent would win Ryan bader with such ease.

“I didn't expect the fight to be so quick. I thought he would use wrestling and that the result would be the judges' decision. I had started my warm-up and the confrontation was already over. It’s a shame that my fight lasted four rounds and his lasted one minute”, said the champion.

Corey's brutal victory confirmed the former UFC fighter as a finalist in the category's tournament. Therefore, Vadim asked for some time off before the date of the challenge against the North American is confirmed.

“I hope Bellator allows me to fully recover. I want to prepare and win this championship”, he concluded.

Over the weekend, Nemkov once again proved himself worthy of the light heavyweight belt. Facing Julius Anglickas, the Russian went through a dangerous moment in the first round, but controlled the situation and, afterwards, staged a true massacre against his opponent, winning by submission and retaining the title.
