It was almost seven years of waiting for a second chance, but finally Fabricio Werdum returned the defeat to Rodrigo Minotauro in the now-defunct PRIDE, in July 2006. The gaucho submitted the MMA legend in the second round and won the coaches' duel in the second season of the The Ultimate Fighter Brazil, in the main fight of TUF Brasil 2 Finale, this Saturday (8), in Fortaleza (CE).

The fight
At the beginning of the fight, what we saw was practically a jiu-jitsu duel. Werdum got the takedown and tried to work from half guard. Afterwards, the gaucho connected good blows and a knee to the head of Minotauro, who attacked the blow. Until the end of the round, Minotauro tried to impose his boxing while Werdum tried to work on muay thai, both without success.
In the second round, visibly more tired, the fighters slowed down and used grappling to rest. In one of the moments on the ground, Werdum took advantage of a mistake from Minotauro, took his opponent's back and locked him in an armbar, ending the fight.
Werdum thinks about the belt
With victory, Fabricio Werdum has a record of 17 wins, five losses and one draw. In his interview after the victory, “Vai Cavalo”, as he is known, praised his opponent. “It's an honor to fight Minotauro, it's the second time we've fought and I'm very happy to fight with him. The guy is really f*d!”, said Werdum.
The gaucho, who currently occupies third place in the official UFC heavyweight rankings, also commented on the possibility of challenging for the category's belt. “It’s what I want most in my life. I’m training every day for this”, he concluded.
