Justin Gaethje plans 'quick and violent' victory against Michael Chandler at UFC 268

In an interview with journalist Brett Okamoto, from North American ESPN, Justin gaethje talked about the duel. The former interim lightweight champion guaranteed that the fight against Chandler will be fun for the fans and assured that he will be ready to thwart his opponent's takedown attempts.

“Being a wrestler, a competitor all my life, I think he's going to start throwing punches. I think it's going to be a great fight, it's going to be fun for the public and for me. Will he resort to wrestling after I drop heavy punches? I'm not sure, probably. But then again, I've been advocating takedowns my entire life. If he wants to waste energy like that, that's fine. When he gets up, he will no longer be able to defend his face”, analyzed Gaethje.

Justin gaethje He has had eight fights since arriving in Ultimate, in July 2017. With five wins and three losses, the American has nine “Performance of the Night” and “Fight of the Night” bonuses. Against Michael chandler, the former interim champion promises a “quick and violent” end.

“There is only one common denominator in each of these fights and that is me. This is how I fight. This fight will be the same thing. I'm going to go in there and try to break this guy down as quickly and as violently as possible. 'Most violent man' and all that shit, it doesn't matter. I'm 22-3, with 19 knockouts, which of these guys can say that? Which of them can say they have nine bonuses in the first seven fights? Neither of them. I will be the common denominator every time. It’s the way I fight and that’s why they pay me so much,” concluded Chandler.

Justin gaethje has not been in action since October 2020, when it was finalized by Khabib Nurmagomedov in the unification of the linear and interim lightweight belts. Michael chandler, in turn, also comes from a defeat in a title fight. The former Bellator champion was knocked out by the Brazilian Charles of the Bronx in May this year in the dispute for the division's vacant belt.
