For Ali Abdelaziz, a renowned businessman in the world of mixed martial arts, history has been made in the welterweight (up to 77kg) category of Ultimate. In an interview with 'MMA Junkie', the 'businessman' made a point of exalting the legacy he has been building Kamaru Usman in his career and, in fact, he already places the Nigerian as the biggest name in the division of all time, having surpassed Georges St-Pierre in the dispute.

“I believe (Kamaru) Usman has already surpassed Georges St-Pierre. I love GSP, but Usman has never lost, he equaled his record (of title defenses) and will surpass it in November (against Colby covington). He was never taken down, suffered a knockdown or was in danger. GSP went through all this. He is a (member of the) 'Hall of Fame', but Usman is the king,” said Abdelaziz.

It does not stop there. For the businessman, the achievements and legacy built by Kamaru mean that the Nigerian is in the discussion of the best fighters in the history of the sport. There, he even sent an 'indirect' message to other possible athletes who might join the select list.

"Kamaru Usman He is the king and, today, he is the best fighter in the world today. I never cared what people think, but today I feel like they understand me. When we talk about the best welterweight on the planet, we need to mention Usman – along with Khabib (Nurmagomedov) – as the greatest in history. If you have already doped, you don’t deserve to be part of the discussion”, concluded the businessman.

PUBLICITY:

The discussion between the best in the history of welterweights (up to 77kg.) continues to divide opinions in the combat sports community and a possible meeting between Usman and GSP – who is retired – was even considered. The athletes, however, never got to measure strength in the octagon.
