Big time at bantamweight (up to 61,2kg.), José Aldo has well drawn up the plan for his next step in the UFC. Executioner of Peter Munhoz in his last commitment, the manauara reinforced his desire to exchange forces against the former champion of the category, TJ Dillashaw. With the former owner of the belt in his sights, the 'People's Champion' ruled out the chance to test himself against another reference in the group, Dominick Cruz.

“The focus is on Dillashaw. If it's early next year, I can wait. I'll leave that to Dedé (Pederneiras). I want to fight around December or January at the latest. With another great fight and victory, we will get closer to the belt”, said the man from Manaus, in an interview with 'MMA fighting'.

Undecided about the chance of sharing the Octagon with TJ, Aldo clarifies that he has no interest in challenging another former division champion. The featherweight legend (up to 65,7kg) then stated that there is no chance of facing Dominick Cruz.

“I heard some reporters talk about this fight (against Cruz), but I think we are going in different directions. He is more dedicated to the commentary area than to the fight itself. I don't think about him today. I respect him and I also like him because he is one of the greatest bantamweight champions, but now I'm on my way to the title. They have no reason to stop and engage in a confrontation that will get me nowhere. It would make more sense to face Rob font than Dominick Cruz”, ended.

In the bantamweight division since December 2019, Aldo currently occupies fifth position in the category. The former featherweight champion is coming off two big UFC victories.

Former champion of the group, Dillashaw returned to MMA this season after serving a two-year suspension for doping. On his return, the North American overcame Cory Sandhagen and occupied the second position of the division led by aljamain sterling.
